Wow! After reading Chris' book "Coca-cola, Krags and Uncle Sam: A Brief History of U.S. Imperialism in the Philippines," .. I was ready and looking forward to reading this book and I must say- the wait was worth it! It's a very good read- heavy on research but easy enough for anyone to understand and follow through. It's a valuable and refreshing resource material for students of Philippine history and economics. It's a great reference book for anyone looking to understand that special relationship between the two countries. A serious subject that is well written. Love the graphics, too- well thought out. Don't miss this one. Another great find!

In plain English, the book clearly explains how the Philippine economy has evolved to its current dire state. All Filipinos must read it for them to gain a good understanding of why the country is still poor in spite of its abundant natural resources and good number of talented citizens. I wish there was a Tagalog version of it. Excellent job, Chris!

This book gives a good insight to the development of the Philippines economy over the period. It is easy to read and well presented, crammed with useful and interesting facts. It would be a good inclusion to Philippines schools and university libraries.
