Development Debacle: The World Bank in the Philippines was written in 1982 by Walden Bello, David Kinley and Elaine Atkinson. This is a carefully documented history of the World Bank's disastrous intervention in the Philippine economy from 1970 to 1981. I think it's the best case study of modern globalization/imperialism that I've read. 36 years after first publication, it's still very much worth reading.

A group of us here in Cebu have converted it into an E-book, and author Walden Bello has agreed to make it available for free download.
