It's a commonly held belief that Ernesto Ché Guevara died in 1967 in the Bolivian mountains, at the hands of Bolivian soldiers and US Army Green Berets.
Only now can the truth be told: Ché is alive and well in the Philippines.
Rumor has it that he has never really adjusted to Filipino food; that he longs for the tapas, fresh tomatoes and tango of his native Argentina. But he has adapted nonetheless, and although I can't reveal his exact whereabouts, I can tell you that he is enjoying his old age with his Filipina wife and nine children in a small house on the island of Cebu. Together they operate a small garment factory providing full-time jobs to many of their neighbors, who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed like most Filipinos. Their products: T-shirts and baseball hats.
